Building a sustainable future
As showed in the latest report from IPCC, it´s critical to avoid continued man-made warming of our planet, which can cause melting ice sheets, extinction of habitats and species, rising sea levels and in the long-term threatening human civilisation. To achieve this goal, we need to transition away from fossil fuels and towards renewable energy sources such as wind and solar energy. Our aim is to increase renewable energy production while caring for local communities and the environment. By working together, we can create a sustainable energy system that benefits present and future generations.
Building renewables sustainably
The United Nations Sustainable Development goals are a natural part of our day-to-day business when we develop solar energy, wind power and battery storage projects. For us are local environment concerns and local communities’ engagement considerations that are integral in the project development. To contribute further within the areas of our expertise, or in areas in which we can have an impact, we have identified four sustainable development goals that we prioritise with a long-term focus.
What we prioritise
GOAL 7: Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable, and modern energy for all
We develop renewable energy projects with the aim of increasing sustainable energy in Thailand. We will bring forward innovative projects like solar and battery hybrids that can help farmers, manufacturers, and off-grid communities to have 24/7 access to renewable electricity at a lower cost.
GOAL 12: Responsible consumption and production
We use manufacturers and suppliers with low environmental impact and high technical standard in their production and services. To achieve this, we have implemented an ESG policy which guide us in our own work and contacts with suppliers.
GOAL 13: Climate action
We develop renewable energy projects that supports households and companies shift to sustainable energy production and projects that supports Thailand’s national quantified targets. Thereby we support the implementation of Thailand’s National Determined Contributions (NDC) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
GOAL 17: Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development
We support global partnerships for sustainable development by engaging in SDG private sector initiatives in Thailand and by supporting private sector cooperation between Sweden and Thailand.
Moving forward
We have adopted an Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) policy to guide and assess the sustainability and ethical impact of our investments and business operations. Ecopia Energy’s four prioritised sustainable development goals, together with the ESG policy, constitutes the foundation for how we conduct our business. We have included ESG factors in our decision-making to identify and manage risks, as well as to identify business and investment opportunities that align with our values.
In our business we act on talk and fine words. Therefore, we prioritise projects that reflects our prioritised SDGs and ESG policy but also that can make an impact on several other SDGs or high impact on a particular SDG. For example, solar project that permits agriculture activities alongside with the energy production and projects that can solve problem with re-occurring blackouts for an industry or local community, are typical types of projects that we aim to prioritise in our project portfolio.
